Code of Conducts for the Students

Introduction

This Code shall be called as the SVCET Students’ Code of Conduct.

• This Code indicates the standard procedures and practices of Sri Venkateshwaraaa College of Engineering & Technology (hereinafter referred to as “SVCET”).
• All students are bound to abide by this Code including the rights, responsibilities, and restrictions flowing from it.
• The Institution endeavors to administer student discipline equally pertaining to student conduct and behaviour.
• This Code shall be displayed on the Institute website.

Ethics and Conduct

• At the time of admission, every student shall sign a declaration agreeing to abide by this Code.
• Every student shall be regular and complete his/her studies within the prescribed period.
• Students leaving the Institute for valid reasons must obtain written consent from the Head of Institution.
• Pending hostel/mess dues must be cleared and scholarships/freeships shall stand revoked upon relief.
• Every student shall uphold academic integrity and respect persons, property, and safety.
• Students must refrain from any misconduct inside or outside the campus that affects the reputation of the Institution.

Dress Code

• Students shall attend college neatly and decently dressed.
• Identity cards must be worn visibly at all times inside the campus and college buses.
• Male Students: Formal pants and tucked-in shirts, black leather shoes, proper haircut, and clean shave are compulsory. Casual wear and accessories are prohibited.
• Female Students: Churidhars with neatly pinned dupattas. Sleeveless, short, tight, or netted attire and free hairstyles are prohibited.
• Uniforms are compulsory for laboratories. Shoes are mandatory for core engineering branches.

Prohibition of Mobile Phones / Electronic Gadgets

Availing Leave

Students are not permitted to avail leave without prior permission or intimation to the coordinator/class advisor. Leave records are maintained at the department level.

Hostel

Wardens and Deputy Wardens are appointed to manage hostel administration. Students must obtain prior permission with parent consent before leaving the hostel and strictly follow hostel rules.

Transport

Transport facilities are available on optional basis upon payment of fees. Unauthorized usage will be charged. Parents are advised not to provide two-wheelers to students due to safety concerns.

Misconduct

Any act violating discipline inside or outside the campus shall be treated as misconduct and dealt with as per Institutional rules.

Acts Constituting Misconduct

• Theft, fraud, dishonesty, or damage to Institute property.
• Continuous absence, late coming, or negligence of instructions.
• Consumption of alcohol, narcotics, or involvement in criminal activities.
• Dress code violations and non-wearing of ID cards.
• Harassment, ragging, abusive behavior, or violence.
• Forgery, misuse of electronic devices, and disrespectful conduct.
• Hostel rule violations and unauthorized entry of outsiders.

Disciplinary Action

Based on the gravity of misconduct, one or more of the following actions may be taken:

• Warning and Reprimand
• Fines
• Restitution
• Suspension from College/Hostel
• Debarment from Placements
• Expulsion from the Institution

Appeal Process

Students may submit a written appeal to the Registrar. The Registrar’s decision shall be final and binding.

• Second suspension disqualifies students from placements.
• Third suspension will result in expulsion from the Institution.
